Frog Hollow Farm is a 133-acre certified organic farm located just outside of San Francisco on the Sacramento River Delta. These guys and gals have created a national reputation for growing outstanding fruit! It all started with Al Courchesne, a Berkeley graduate who had a strong desire to toil the soil, and we are really happy he pursued his dreams. With his first peach orchard planted in 1976, he now produces 25 varieties of peaches, nectarines, cherries, apricots, pluots, plums, Asian & European pears and table grapes.
Al met his future wife, pastry chef, Becky in the 1990’s while delivering fresh fruit to the famous Oliveto restaurant in Oakland. It wasn’t long after this “sweet” union that Becky started making fantastic conserves, marmalades, jellies and chutneys from the organic fruit grown right on the farm. Today Frog Hollow is a thriving business with a 400-member CSA, mail-order business, farmer’s market stands and a café in the food-fabulous San Francisco Ferry Building. In the summer when peaches are in season, stop in try some of Al’s many varieties of his pride and joy. I personally love the juicy Cal Red. If you can’t make it to the Ferry Building, you can order this famous fruit at the on-line store along with dried fruits, spreadable goodness, olive oil and baked goods. Frog Hollow will only ship the fruit when it is ripe so you may have to wait, but it is well worth it! If you love peaches like we do, you can sign up for the “Peachy Picks”. This allows you to get a 6 or 12 pack for 8 weeks when they are at their best. The gift packs are also very special packed with a variety of surprises guaranteed to please everyone.
